Goodnight Moon/The Runaway Bunny

Featuring Kate Mulgrew and Lauren Flanigan

Kate Mulgrew (Red from Orange is the New Black and Captain Janeway from Star Trek) and Lauren

Flanigan ("the thinking man's diva!) join forces to record Glen Roven's two pieces based on the children's classics, The Runaway Bunny and Goodnight Moon. This is a live recording from Central Park that was recording before a live audience of 10,000 on Margaret Wise Brown's, 100 Birthday. Sirena Hwang is the violin soloist and George Stelluto conducts the ISO Orchestra.

Kate talks about Bunny on the news

The stories' allure has attracted adult luminaries: the soprano Lauren Flanigan,

for whom "Goodnight Moon" was written, will sing it,

and the actress Kate Mulgrew will read "The Runaway Bunny."

The absent star is Brown herself (1910-52), whose brief life Mr. Roven

will commemorate by releasing a live recording of the park performances

on his new GPR record label on May 23, her 100th birthday.

This offering is, in its own way, on the exalted level of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf ,

or Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
